Eversolar successfully executed an innovative project in the Gqeberha Development Zone, implementing Phase 1 of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system integrated with a battery energy storage system. The primary objective was to reduce electricity costs for the customer while overcoming unique challenges posed by space constraints and environmental factors.

A notable feature of the project was the creative use of a shipping container, repurposed to house all necessary equipment while meeting regulatory fire protection requirements. This solution was essential due to the client’s limited space availability, though it brought concerns about the nearby ocean’s salty air, demanding a  full enclosure of the container. Ensuring adequate cooling for the inverters, crucial for maintaining operational efficiency amidst the heat
they generate, received special attention.

Prior to commencement, securing approval from the Coega Industrial Development Zone was essential. Meticulous adherence to regulatory requirements ensured seamless execution. To minimise disruption to the customer’s operations, on-site construction time was significantly reduced by prefabricating the container off-site and transporting it, thus limiting the impact on daily business activities.

The successful Phase 1 completion underscores Eversolar’s commitment to delivering tailored, innovative solutions. By overcoming complex logistical and environmental hurdles through creative engineering and proactive project management, the company not only achieved its primary goal of electricity cost reduction but also showcased its expertise in sustainable energy solutions.

Now, in response to the customer’s request, Eversolar  is poised to expand the project further. This planned expansion aims to build upon Phase 1’s success, increasing solar PV capacity and ultimately enhancing the battery energy storage system to meet escalating energy demands.
